EXPECTATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Attendance for students and a parent, guardian and/or responsible adult is REQUIRED. There are no excused absences from the college bound programs. We encourage you to rearrange any extracurricular activities that are held during the same time as the college bound programs.
Graduating seniors will receive their customized class focusing on applications, resumes, personal statements, college research, deadlines and financial aid, scholarship information. Middle School and High School students will receive hands on and interactive information regarding college preparation. Topics range from college selection to college portfolio.
Each student is required to participate in 50-100 hours of community service. College Bound often commits to volunteer programs such as the breast cancer walk, Special Olympics, reading to the elderly, financial workshops, etc. Failure to fulfil these requirements may jeopardize your membership.
Each student should bring a pen, pencil, notebook and an open mind to learn.
Each college bound program is uniquely designed to meet the needs of the membership. Components could include: Academic Excellence, Self Esteem Building, Cultural Awareness, Career Exploration, College Readiness, Public Speaking, Financial Literacy, Time Management, Learning Assessments, Study Skills, Affirmation Pledges, Take 15, Reading, College Clues and much more.
Gathering of all students and parents, reciting of commitment pledges, updates, talent and public speaking opportunity and book reading follow-up.
Parents, guardians and/or a responsible adult are REQUIRED to attend the workshops with their student(s). The parent component is taught from a parent's perspective and is interactive. It focuses on empowering parents to take back control of their households, navigating the educational system successfully and ensuring educational success for their children.
